3D Printed Photo Lithophane

Turn your favourite memories into a unique glowing work of art with a custom-made lithophane light box. Our 3D printed photo lithophane is a unique way to transform a regular photograph into a three-dimensional piece of art. Essentially, it’s a thin panel that, when backlit, reveals a detailed image. The process involves converting a photo into a 3D model where varying thicknesses correspond to different shades of the image. Thinner areas allow more light to pass through, appearing lighter, while thicker areas block more light, appearing darker. This technique creates a stunning, detailed image that can be appreciated in various lighting conditions. Lithophanes can be used for decorative purposes, personalised gifts, or even as unique lighting fixtures and are ideal for landscapes, family portraits, and pet photos – capturing treasured moments in a way that looks stunning when lit.

The photo itself measures approx 130mm x 95mm, while the 3D printed photo frame measures approx 160mm x 125mm. The lithophane photo is lit from behind by an LED backplane where the brightness can be adjusted to suit your light levels. The lithophane kit comes with a 1.5 metre USB lead with an on/off button and buttons for varying the brightness. The lithophane photo can be easily removed and be replaced with another if required.
